Mitsubishi and Smart have signed an agreement to share engine technology.

Mitsubishi will supply a turbo-charged engine, which will be used in the Japanese company’s I concept minicar (pictured). The engine will be further developed for use in the 2007 successor to Smart’s Fortwo model.

Mitsubishi said the collaboration would help to lower costs on a per-unit basis.
