The US Treasury has given financial assistance totalling $3.79 billion (£2.37 billion) to GMAC Financial Services, once a division of General Motors.

The actions are designed to strengthen the company’s capital base and in time improve access to capital markets. GMAP UK provides financial products and services to Vauxhall, Chevrolet and Saab dealers.
