Subaru has revealed details of its Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 which will go on sale next month priced from £49,995.
It goes up against Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evolution X FQ-400 and the engineering collaboration between Subaru and Cosworth has squeezed the 2.5-litre turbocharged Boxer engine to just beat the FQ-400 from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds, as apposed to 3.8 seconds in the Evo. This is despite having slightly less horsepower than the FQ-400 with 398bhp on offer.
There will be just 75 models built for the UK market ready to be sold to die-hard Impreza fans. It’s priced just below the FQ-400 which is now priced at £52,299.
The car features Cosworth badging on the lower grille, front seats, brake callipers and floor mats. Individually numbered plaques are fitted on the engine and door sills. Each Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 is supplied with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
The all-wheel drive CS400 features Cosworth-engineered components in the engine, turbo system, exhaust, suspension, brakes and wheels, plus subtle improvements to the exterior.
Interior specification includes Recaro front seats, Cosworth-branded black leather rear seats and steering wheel, piano black centre stack and trim accents, and privacy glass.
Customers will be able to choose from three colours – “spark silver”, “dark grey” and “san remo red”.
