A six monthly survey by the Institute of Customer Service has put car brand Volvo as the fifth highest of all UK organisations.

It scored 88.2 out of 100, and came closely behind 4th ranked John Lewis, which scored 88.5.

Skoda was the only other car brand to feature in the top 10, coming 10th with 86.5.

The top three performers were ASOS with 91.6, then Amazon with 90.6, and First Direct with 89.

The ICS reported that in the automotive sector 31% of customers rated service much more important than price.

Automotive companies whose satisfaction scores are higher than the sector average of 80.9 have an average of 49% of customers who have recommended them, compared to 30% for companies who score below the sector average for customer satisfaction.

Volvo Car UK

Volvo has ambitious plans to grow its sales to fleets by up to 70% over the next decade. The increase reflects recent strong performances in the fleet market. In 2010 it achieved just short of 20,000 company car registrations, a 20% rise on 2009.

Demand will be driven in part by its low CO2 offering, including the S60 with emissions of 124g.km and 60mpg fuel economy. It is particularly targeting SMEs, which it classifies as fleets of 5-100 cars.

Volvo is also putting greater emphasis on sales of parts and retail service hours. Volvo has been supporting dealers in getting their message across about the value of their services.

Recent examination of local independent rivals found that in five out of eight cases the independent was not cheaper.

Skoda Auto

Skoda is targeting sales of up to 78,000 units in the next five years as it secures an ever-stronger order book backed by a growing range.

Its sales hit a new high in 2010 backed by an expanding dealer netowork and they are set to reach a new record in 2011 too.

This growth is balanced between fleet and retail sales and Skoda expects there to be a 45/55 fleet retail split as demand grows in future.

A key launch for 2012 will be the Skoda Citigo, based on the VW Up, which will mark Skoda's entry into the A-segment and a significant potential uplift in sales.Until now, Roomster and Fabia have been its smallest cars.

Well this is no revelation, as they only see three or four customers each day it is not difficult now is it!
Q. Why are Volvo dealers banned from looking out of the window in the morning?
A. Because if they did they wouldnt have anything to do in the afternoon!
