The Sinclair Group is planning to create around 60 jobs in Swansea with the opening of a new Volkswagen dealership.

The group is looking to build the dealership, along with workshop and offices, in Langdon Road next to its existing Mercedes and Audi garages which were built in 2004.

Those existing dealerships already employ 120 people.

Jonathan Sinclair, director of the Sinclair Group, confirmed the business was hoping to have the VW dealership built and trading by the first quarter of next year.

He said: "Regardless of the economic climate, the growth of the business globally determines what we do on a local level."

The development will involve re-locating the group's existing VW operation from Gorseinon to Swansea.

The Sinclair Group introduced a Seat franchise to its business in Gorseinon Road, Penllergaer in January. This will remain, with a second franchise being introduced to the site.

The majority of staff will remain in Gorseinon with a select few being transferred to the Swansea operation.
