A top 20 AM100 car dealer has made an acquisition which has added five fresh franchises to its business.

Greenhous Group's takeover of William A Lewis adds Dacia, Nissan, Renault, Toyota and Volvo franchises in Shrewsbury and Telford to the group’s existing range of Vauxhall, VW Commercials and DAF Trucks franchises.

William A Lewis was family owned with 160 staff and annual turnover of £43m.

It is expected to take Greenhous's total turnover over the £600m mark but leave it in 13th place in the AM100.

Derek Passant, chief executive of Greenhous, said: “We are pleased to announce the purchase of the assets of William A Lewis and would like to thank the previous owners for their helpful assistance in enabling us to complete the transaction in a smooth and professional manner."

“We are delighted to be working with more extremely credible manufacturers, adding to our already established portfolio of brands and are looking forward to continuing our expansion in the automotive industry.”

BHP Corporate Finance, which provided deal structuring and due diligence advisory services for the acquisition, said the deal adds “critical mass” to Greenhous’ franchised operations in the Shropshire area, as well as opening up new fleet opportunities.
