Japanese car brand Mazda is set to reveal a new SUV addition to its range, the CX-3, next month.

The compact crossover SUV will premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The Mazda CX-3 will be the next model in Mazda's new generation line up, with Skyactiv technology and Kodo design, to launch after the new Mazda2 supermini and MX-5 roadster go on sale in 2015.

The engine line-up will be tailored to each market, with either a 1.5-litre or 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G petrol unit. A 1.5-litre Skyactiv-D diesel could also feature to account for European market tastes.

Expected to enter the UK's new car market in early 2016, the CX-3 will be the second SUV in Mazda UK's product range, joining the CX-5 which was introduced in 2012 and has been a strong seller for the Dartford-based national sales company.

The CX-3 will rival compact crossover SUVs such as the Nissan Juke, Ford EcoSport and Vauxhall Mokka.
