South of England car dealer Caffyns has reported a 9.8% increase in new car volume since September.

Caffyns said this was against an overall UK new car market increase of 10.0% in the four months to January 31 whilst its main market in the private and small business sector increased by 13.6%.

The company's used car unit sales were up by 21.0% in the period. Aftersales revenue was up by 2.6%, its brief update to the London Stock Exchange said.

Other recent developments within Caffyns include the relocation of its Skoda dealership in Ashford to new premises and an imminent transfer to its Volkswagen dealership in Worthing to a new-build showroom in March.

Caffyns said the full year outturn will, as always, be influenced by its performance in the crucial month of March.
