Maindealerdiscount.com, the website which matched dealers with extra service capacity with customers looking for a discount, will cease trading at the end of July.

Darren Bone, Main Dealer Discount managing director, said in a statement today: “Despite growing the business year on year for the last five years I have not been able to make the necessary step change in number of signed-up dealers and service bookings to take the business where it deserves to be.

“With 98% of our bookings in the 3yr+ car parc it’s extraordinary our aftersales solution wasn’t more widely adopted.”

Maindealerdiscount works like a hotel late room booking website, but instead of selling rooms, it sells excess capacity for manufacturer authorised main dealers. Dealers have also offered further discounts on any additional parts and labour required over and above the service through Maindealerdiscount.com.

Bone is now looking for a ‘white knight’ to take the business to the next level and acquire all or part of the business and its technology.

Bone said: “It’s been a challenging experience working in the automotive industry over the last five years and it’s given me the opportunity to meet some outstanding individuals.”
