Car owners are being offered the chance to configure their service plans with an online tool developed by eDynamix.

Using the online quoting tool customers can choose the period over which to take the plan, their annual mileage and next service date and view what services they require using the dealer’s menu pricing system.

Optional services offered by the dealer, such as MoT’s, brake fluid and air conditioning services, can also be added as required by the customer, allowing them to tailor the quote to their exact requirements.

Iain Nickalls, eDynamix director, said “Customers can configure and buy most things online now, but there are systems that still exist and used every day in dealerships that are very much dealer centric.

“Service plan systems are one of these.

“The customer either needs to be present or on the phone to gather all of their requirements to allow the dealer to create a quote.”

“However, customers don’t always have the time or inclination to discuss the concept and benefits of a service plan during a visit to the dealership or over the phone when booking their car for a service.

“We are catching up with other industries and moving to a more customer centric model by allowing a customer to quote a service plan in their own time and from the comfort of their own home.

“Customers can configure and order cars online now, so they should be able to do the same with service plans”.

“We analysed bookings created online and it showed that over 25% are made outside of working hours.

“This provides a huge opportunity for customers quoting for a service plan if it was part of the online bookings process.

It is also imperative that all online tools offered to customer be responsive and mobile friendly.

“ASOS, for example, reported that in that last financial year 58% of all sales were made from a mobile device”.
