Toyota is planning to offer buyers a choice of two hybrid powertrains in its core European models.
Dr Johan Van Zyl, president and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe, announced the strategy at the Frankfurt motor show (September 12).
One will provide the benefits of efficiency and fuel economy, as established in the current hybrid systems on offer.
The second will build on these qualities, adding more power and a more dynamic driving character.
More details about these plans will be revealed early next year.
