Northallerton car dealership Simon Bailes Peugeot is celebrating the Tour de Yorkshire by providing a fleet of wooden bikes to help the region promote the event.

The business commissioned the supply of wooden bikes to be made available to local businesses and individuals to enable bespoke displays to be placed around the town as part of its preparations for the prestigious bike race.

Sized between 6ft and 4ft the props can be bought from the town hall or Simon Bailes’ dealership on Tannery Lane for between £20 and £30.

Simon Bailes said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Northallerton to showcase everything good that the town has to offer.

“Northallerton is the County Town of North Yorkshire and we feel proud and privileged to have the Tour visit and experience our historic town.

“The town and its people and businesses must come together to make this a day to remember and make sure that everyone is talking about Northallerton and what a brilliant event the town organised.

“We are delighted to be able to offer the wooden bikes for people to paint or decorate themselves and use to welcome the Tour de Yorkshire to the town.”

Inspired by the success of the Tour de France’s visit to Yorkshire in 2014 the Tour de Yorkshire takes place between April 29th and May 1st and will see Team Sky, Sir Bradley Wiggins and women’s world champion Lizzie Armistead take to the streets.

Simon Bailes Ltd operates Peugeot franchises in Northallerton, Guisborough and Stockton-on-Tees.

The latest AMi figures state that the business employed 101 staff in 2014 and recorded an annual turnover of £62,614,000 for the year, with gross profits of £4,365,000.
