Planning officials took just 20 seconds to give the new Peter Vardy CarStore operation destined for Dundee the green light.

Plans to transform the former Valetines card factory site in the city’s Dunsinane Industrial Estate were given the go-ahead by councillors in record time as they gave their approval to the creation of the 6,000sq-m used car facility.

Around 100 jobs are expected to be created by the 300-vehicle development, which could be up and running by the end of the year, the Dundee Courier reported.

Peter Vardy has also expressed plans to continue the expansion of its CarStore car supermarket network, according to the Courier.

The company opened its first car supermarket in Glasgow in 2014, selling more than 3,500 vehicles in its first 12 months. This rose to more than 4,000 in its second year of operation.
