Vertu Motors has submitted plans to create a 5,700 square-foot Jaguar Land Rover showroom in Bolton.

Plans have been submitted to Bolton Council for the new Farnell JLR facility, earmarked for a site on Higher Bridge Street, which will replace the existing Farnell Land Rover site on Bolton Road, Farnworth.

The three-storey Arch Concept showroom will be built on the site of a workshop and a collection of small outbuildings which will be demolished, if the plans get the green light, The Bolton News reported.

Vertu’s plans follow news of Inchcape’s £9 million investment in a new Audi showroom off Manchester Road, Bolton, and RRG Group’s purchase of land for a new Skoda car showroom on Clarence Street, Bolton.

A spokesman for the developer behind Vertu’s Farnell JLR plans, quoted by The Bolton News, said: “The development plans to relocate the existing Farnell Jaguar dealership, providing a new modern motor retail space to better serve their clients, create an exceptional workplace and offer an appropriate development that enhances the site and surrounding area.

“Existing buildings located on the site are no longer fit for purpose. Demolishing the existing buildings creates the opportunity to provide a modern development that will enhance the local area, and create exceptional workplace for staff and generate new local employment opportunities.”
