Tesla has applied for planning permission to create a new car showroom and service centre in Leeds.

Following on from the success of a city centre store which opened in Leeds' Victoria Quarter in April last year, the US EV specialist aims to broaden its influence in the city with the proposed base at Whitehouse Street in Hunslet.

The proposed site, just off the A61, was last occupied by Farnell Land Rover.

Acting on behalf of Tesla, CallisonRTKL-UK has detailed the planned layout of the showroom, service centre and signage for the brand, alongside charging points for the vehicles, Insider Media reported.

Tesla’s plans include parking spaces for 32 vehicles and a 16,000 sq ft facility, supporting 15 jobs.
