Motor Depot has officially added its eighth used car retail location with the official opening of a brand-new retail site in Barnsley.

Located just off the M1 at junction 36, on the Dearne Valley Parkway, the site will accommodate over 400 vehicles and boasts an impressive 75,000 square foot of internal display space and a vehicle preparation centre.

Motor Depot’s managing director, Stephen Butterley, said: “Barnsley is a great place for us, and the opportunity to acquire such a prestigious site as this reinforces our commitment to accelerate the growth of our brand within the wider Yorkshire region.”

Having created around 40 new jobs in the immediate area, Barnsley becomes Motordepot’s eighth branch, closely following the completion and successful opening of their Newcastle branch in January.

Butterley said: “I’m also really excited about our new team at Barnsley, they’ve all adopted our culture straight away and it’s all about providing our customers with the best buying experience possible, in a simple, transparent and ethical way”.

The company has existing established sites in Birmingham, Grimsby, Hessle, Hull, Scunthorpe and Worksop.

Earlier this month Motor Depot reported a 32% rise in turnover and a 31.5% increase in pre-tax profit in its annual results to August 31, 2017.

The East Yorkshire-based independent used car retail group was established in 2003 and, in 2017, added a new showroom in Worksop to a portfolio.

Motor Depot reported turnover of £148.8m for the reported period, up from £112.7m in 2015/16 and pre-tax profit of £6.89m, compared to £5.24m a year earlier.
