Jaguar Land Rover is to implement a menopause workplace support policy'

The policy, which is a day one right and can be accessed at any time, includes workplace adjustments, such as flexible working, access to fans, additional breaks and changes to workwear. The policy also addresses sick leave for menopause symptoms.

"JLR is delighted to be able to provide the menopause support policy which has been developed in partnership with a number of stakeholders including our gender equality network, trade union and colleagues from across the business,” the business said.

The policy is one of several rolled out as part of JLR's commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive workplace for all of its employees.

Last year, JLR rolled out a ‘pregnancy loss’ policy to support any employees who had experienced miscarriage including ectopic or molar pregnancy and stillbirth.

JLR also has a range of family-friendly policies which include: an adoption leave procedure, shared parental leave policy and many more. JLR recognises the importance of such policies in supporting its employees with social mobility and not having to make choices around starting a family conflict with having a career.

Unite JLR convenor Jackie Llewellyn-Robinson, who helped getting the policy set up, said: “I am pleased JLR has agreed to institute this menopause support policy. Unite will continue to push for improvements to the policy from JLR as well as helping women reps across the union to win similar menopause support provisions from their employers.”
