Members of the Vehicle Remarketing Association (VRA) will gain insight from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) head of vehicle policy at a meeting later this month.

Abdul Chowdhury will provide an update on workstreams supporting the used electric vehicle (EV) market at the event which takes place online at 10am on April 27.

The VRA has previously called for Government support to boost the sales of used electric vehicles (EV) as the cost-of-living crisis threatened to inhibit the affordability of zero emissions cars.

Earlier this wek, however, Cap HPI director of valuations Derren Martin told AM that used EV buyers could now afford to be "more aspirational" with their purchasing plans thanks to value declines that had impacted premium products hardest.

VRA chair Philip Nothard – Cox Automotive’s insight and strategy director – said: “Used EVs continue to be among the most-discussed topics in remarketing, and being able to hear directly from someone such as Abdul at the centre of government thinking is sure to be fascinating, especially following the recently-issued environmental policy document and EV Mandate.

“We’re also looking forward to hearing the panel discussion on used vehicle supply. This continues to be a difficult area for our members with as yet no obvious end to the issue in sight.

“It’ll be interesting to get views from a range of people deeply involved in this area to get their views about current and likely future developments.”

Joining the event’s panel discussion will be: Phill Jones, chief operating officer at eBay Motors Group; Greg Smith, commercial director at Carshop Supermarket; and Michael Tomalin, CEO at both City Auctions Group and PurpleRock.

The VRA’s April event will be followed by an in-person member meeting on May 25 at a location which has yet to be confirmed.
