Seat has unveiled its next generation Alhambra MPV model, ahead of order books opening at the end of May.

The Spanish manufacturer claims the model is now up to 15% more fuel efficient, thanks to new engines.

Each powertrain fulfils Euro6 emissions standard. The 148bhp 2.0TDI variant sees fuel consumption of 57.6 mpg, with 130g/km CO2.

In the UK, the 2.0TDI engines will be offered with 148bhp and 181bhp (torque 380 Nm). A 1.4TSI petrol engine delivering 148bhp also joins the fold. All engines can be combined with the DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Chairman of the executive committee SEAT S.A Jürgen Stackmann said: “Alhambra has seen a year of record sales in 2014. Innovation, driving fun, utility and safety are the keywords for the new-generation Alhambra, making it the perfect partner for an active lifestyle.

“Its compelling concept combines the very best functionality and state-of-the-art technology with an excellent standard of quality and workmanship. Plus, in true SEAT fashion, it offers incredible value for money.”

Seat executive vice president for research and development Dr. Matthias Rabe said: “The Alhambra stays at the very forefront with its further improved fuel consumption and emissions figures. With its new technologies, it provides the best possible combination of dynamic driving fun and excellent comfort.”

The new model also features; a new generation of SEAT Easy Connect infotainment systems, keyless entry and start, multi-collision braking system, dynamic chassis control to increase comfort on the road, and new massaging seats.
