Former Mapfre assistance man Damian Tyler has been named as The Warranty Group’s new head of business development for the company’s Automotive Division as three new faces join its team.

TWG chief executive for the UK and Europe, Rich Green, said that the appointment of Tyler, who previously had overall responsibility for both new business and account management functions covering the north of the UK for Mapfre, was a strong signal to the industry that the company’s vision for the next few years was attracting the highest quality talent.

“We have very exciting and innovative plans for the motor sector and need excellent quality people to continue our evolution and put them in place,” he said.

“Attracting proven business development specialists of the calibre of Damian is crucial to our future success.”

Tyler said: “Having met the team here at TWG, I very much wanted to become part of what is happening. Their strategies, commitment and investment are outstanding. It’s an exciting time for the company.”

Reporting to Tyler will be new recruits David Robertson and Philip Nelson.

Robertson takes up the post of business development director for Scotland and Northern Ireland, joining TWG from Car Care Plan.

Nelson has become TWG’s business development director in Northern England having most recently occupied the post of development manager at Premia Solutions.

Green said: “Like Damian, David and Philip are high quality appointments and their arrival at TWG underlines the outstanding degree of expertise and enthusiasm that we now have within our motor warranty team.”

Tyler’s Business Development team will grow to six before the end of the year, TWG said in a statement.
