Sales of cars from the 70s and 80s have risen by almost a quarter in the last 12 months.

The Britannia Assist survey saw a 23% increase in retro car sales over the past year.

Cars such as Audi Quattro and Ford Capri have seen a revived interest after television shows such as the BBC’s Ashes to Ashes earlier this year, said Nick Lindsay, HPI director.

HPI recently carried out research into dream cars from the 80s.

Lindsay said: “Our survey of 80s cars put the Porsche 911 in the top spot with 29% of the votes, with the Audi Quattro coming in with 28%.”

Reliant Robins of Only Fools & Horses fame were another hot favourite from the 80s, with around 8,000 on the road today.
