Seat has cut prices by up to 17% until at least year end. It means a reduction of £2,400 on the Toledo 1.6, now £11,490, and there are lesser cuts across the whole range.
Most Arosas are down by £700, starting at £5,990, Ibiza reductions average £500, Cordoba £1,000 and the Alhambra is up to £2,000 less than in August.

Honda has launched a revised, simplified, Accord range. Now with nine versions in place of the previous 20, remaining cars are £500 cheaper, starting with the 1.8S at £14,495.A new 2.3-litre Type-V luxury model is added at £19,495.

Nissan's latest version of its executive saloon, the Maxima QX, has gone on sale at £20,700 for the 2.0V6 SE, rising to £25,900 for the 3.0 SE+.

Hyundai has slashed prices of Accent, coupe and Sonata. The Accent is down by typically £500, the coupe and Sonata by £1,100. There is also a short-term reduction on its Amica city car of £700.

Mitsubishi has cut the price of the top Carisma, the 1.8 Elegance, by £2,000 to £13,995 though a selected range of dealers. At the same time the new base Shogun, the Classic is launched at £22,995 for the SWB and £27,995. A more powerful model is added to the Skoda Fabia range. The 2.0 Elegance gets the Golf GTi engine and a £11,900 price tag.

Daihatsu has added a 1.3-litre engine to the Sirion supermini. The three model Sirion range now runs from £7,495 to £8,995.

Proton has cut the price of its Satria GTi by £1,500 to £12,999. It makes the car more attractive alongside some competitors, though still far from the bargain normally associated with the Proton marque.

Mercedes-Benz has added an AMG version to the M-Class range. The 155mph 4x4 has a 5.5-litre V8 with 347bhp and a price of £49,990.

Mazda has added a luxury derivative to its B-Series double cab range. The 2.5TD Escape gets a velour interior, CD stacker, electric windows and mirrors, metallic blue paint, alloys and rear style bars, all for £18,907 on the road.

Ginetta, the sports car builder, has launched its latest model for sale only through the Internet. The £12,999 S4c can be bought through www.Showroom 4cars.com.

Reliant's final examples of the its Robin three-wheeler will be sold as the limited edition “65”. The £10,000 price includes leather seats, alloys, walnut facia and white instrument pack.
