Harwoods Group has doubled the capacity of its Audi Portsmouth dealership, following a total overhaul of the site.

Originally acquired in 2000, Portsmouth Audi was the group’s first Audi business and is now one of only a few in the network with the brand’s new honeycomb design on the exterior.

The showroom and bespoke aftersales centre are built on the old Portsmouth Airport site.

Harwoods Group completed the development of a new glass-sided aftersales facilityat Audi Portsmouth, in 2020, in an effort to bring customers a “future now” car servicing experience.

Working entirely within the extent of the existing and original structure, the expansion and re-modelling of the Portsmouth Audi showroom is said to align with the sustainability vision of both Harwoods and Audi.

The Group said future Proofing was a key consideration for this project, with five on-site electric vehicle (EV) chargers alongside the infrastructure to increase this when required.

The newly refurbished dealership has a number of unique features that connect the history of the site with the latest architectural and corporate requirements of the Audi brand. The extended dealership houses a 16 car internal display, along with a dedicated handover bay, open plan offices and hospitality areas.

The bigger space has also allowed for more speciality, with a dedicated area to Audi Sport.

To mark the opening of Audi Portsmouth, a launch event was held on September 29, to welcome customers, staff, and members of the senior management team from Audi UK, to experience the new showroom.

The site was officially opened by Guy Harwood, son of the Harwoods founder and company chairman, and by Andrew Doyle, director of Audi UK. The evening got underway with some speeches from our directors and Guy.

Phil Brine, head of business at Portsmouth Audi, said: “It was great to host Audi Portsmouth’s launch event and share the evening with likeminded Audi enthusiasts. It’s an exciting time for Harwoods Group as we come together to power family adventures and create memorable experiences for our customers. We’re looking forward to welcoming guests to the fantastic new dealership.”

Earlier this year, Marshall Motor Group succeeded in condensing the operations of three Audi premium car dealerships into one flagship location with the opening of its new Audi Centre in South East London.
