Skoda UK has revealed pricing and specification details of the new fourth-generation Octavia hatchback and estate – with prices starting from £22,390.

The latest iteration of the Czech brand’s best-selling model will be launched into UK showrooms with two special First Edition models, a fleet-focussed SE Technology trim and a choice of three engine options.

The Volkswagen Group-owned brand’s saw sales of the Octavia reach 20,703 in 2019 – 15.5% up on 2018 – according to Society of Motor Manufacturers (SMMT) data and the new version hopes to continue that momentum with an updated design offering more space thanks to a longer and wider body.

Prices range from £22,390 for the 1.5 TSI 150PS SE First Edition hatchback to £29,515 for the two-litre TDI 150PS DSG Estate SE L First Edition and order books are set to open in June, with showroom deliveries commencing a month later

An entry level S trim, a 1.0 TSI engine available with a manual transmission, the introduction of mHEV (mild hybrid) DSG on both the 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI, and PHEV (plug-in hybrid) models will all be added to the line-up later this year, Skoda said, along with a sporty vRS model, available in diesel, petrol and PHEV.

The Octavia vRS iV will be the first ever electrified vRS model.

Fourth-generation Skoda Octavia estateFrom launch SE First Edition, SE Technology, and SE L First Edition will offer a standard level of equipment which includes Skoda’s third-generation MIB infotainment system, a Virtual Cockpit digital display, LED headlights, and Wireless Smartlink for Apple CarPlay.

Among the safety equipment fitted to the Octavia SE First Edition is front assist, lane assist and an e-Call system that automatically alerts emergency services in the case of accident.

An 8.25-inch infotainment system is coupled to eight speakers and the cabin also features five USB-C ports, including one in the rear-view mirror for connecting to a dashcam.

The Octavia SE Technology (from £22,640) has been created to appeal to fleet and business users and features 16-inch alloy wheels, a range-topping Columbus infotainment system with a 10-inch touchscreen display, voice control and front and rear parking sensors with manoeuvre assist.

Skoda’s new range-topper, the Octavia SE L First Edition models (from £25,150) is said to “showcase a range of the brand’s most advanced features and creature comforts”.

As such, SE L First Edition models get 17-inch alloy wheels, while the exterior is distinguished from other models in the range by chrome window surrounds and a chrome strip in the lower front bumper.

Fourth-generation Skoda Octavia SE L First Edition interiorInside, SE L First Edition models come with microsuede upholstery, heated front seats and LED ambient lighting, along with an electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory and lumbar support.

The SE Technology trims’ Columbus infotainment system is also standard.

In terms of safety and assistance systems, the SE L First Edition comes with Blind spot protection, front and rear parking sensors with manoeuvre assist and adaptive cruise control with follow to stop.

Drive mode selection and keyless entry on all four doors with start/stop are also standard fit on all SE L First Edition models.

Skoda’ds engine options for the new Octavia comprises a 150PS 1.5 TSI turbocharged petrol unit and two-litre TDI turbodiesel units emitting 115PS or 150PS.

The range’s cleanest engine at launch in the 115PS TDI version of the SE Technology hatchback, which emits 113g/km on the WLTP test cycle. Other performance figures have yet to be published.

The more powerful diesel engine – available only with the SE L First Edition trim level – comes with a seven-speed DSG gearbox as standard.
