Castrol is inviting workshops and retail partners from across the UK to enter a seven-a-side football tournament to mark its new three-year sponsorship of the English Premier League.

The competition will take place on May 22 at St George’s Park, the official home of England’s national football teams.

Participating teams will be offered expert coaching from footballing legends and be invited to join a post-match awards dinner that will also be attended by a selection of high-profile former players and managers.

Amanda Taylor, UK marketing manager at Castrol, said: “Our sponsorship of the English Premier League presents us with a unique opportunity to reward our workshop and retail partners with a true once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

A total of eight teams will compete in the tournament – two from the Castrol Service Network, two Castrol retail partners, three from Castrol’s franchised dealer network, and one representing automotive industry charity BEN.

Castrol says the tournament will give the players a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” to meet some of football’s most revered figures, with each team benefitting from a pre-tournament coaching session by their very own football legend.

All players will receive a Nike tournament team shirt and goodie bag, with accommodation and food also provided.

Sporting luminaries signed up to the event include former England striker Emile Heskey, Premier League coach and former Nottingham Forest Manager Chris Hughton, former Leeds United and Liverpool star Harry Kewell, Brighton and Hove Albion’s women’s first team manager Hope Powell CBE, former England Captain Kelly Smith MBE, and former Middlesbrough and Bournemouth Manager Jonathan Woodgate.

Following the tournament, the winning team will be awarded medals by representatives of the League Managers Association at an awards dinner. The presentation will include a special guest appearance by football coach and Belgium team manager, Roberto Martinez.

The top eight workshops in the Castrol Service Network to sign up the most Castrol Engine Warranty schemes will each win one tournament place.

Any Castrol franchised dealer who signs up for the tournament will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a place. A football legend will randomly pick three winning franchises, who will then choose the players they wish to put forward. Castrol’s retail customers will also be awarded eight team places for the sales region that drives the greatest volume uplift amongst Castrol’s stockists.

Castrol recently launched a new marketing campaign and is offering participating independent garages the opportunity to win a bespoke package of free promotional assets to build positive awareness in their local community and attract new customers.
