Julian Wheway has been appointed to the newly created role of chief product officer at Real Time Communications.

Wheway previously held senior roles within Cox Automotive, including product director (retail solutions) and group product director, and was also internet solutions manager at Listers Group.

The company said Wheway has also been successful in supporting a number of start-up businesses.

Richard Robinson, chief operating officer at Real Time Communications, said: “2023 is an important year for Real Time Communications, and we are accelerating our product development as part of ambitious growth plans in the UK and internationally.

“Last year we deployed over 90 new features and enhancements to our highly regarded aftersales software, launched our business intelligence solution REALinsights to market, as well as making moves internationally following considerable investment in our next generation platform.

“Now with Jules onboard full-time, we are looking forward to more of the same as we continue our plans to support existing customers and continue to grow at scale.”

Real Time Communications became part of CitNOW Group in 2022. The group also acquired digital solutions provider Auto Imaging, last year.

Commenting on his appointment, Wheway said: “Over recent years, I have enjoyed working across multiple markets as a consultant, the experience has been invaluable.

“Working with the team at Real Time Communications in recent years, there was very evidently a great cultural and ambition fit.

“The automotive industry is undergoing huge change, and the chance to be part of a business committed to helping retailers to reshape their future and grow is a great prospect. I’m delighted to be onboard.”
