Ilkeston Co-operative Society is to drop the 'Ilkeston' title from its motor group subsidiary next month to better reflect the group's regional growth.

The Co-Op Motor Group trades from 14 sites across the East Midlands, with a turnover exceeding £140m, after experiencing “exceptional” growth in recent years.

Although its original dealership and administrative offices remain in Ilkeston, the group now has outlets across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, with franchisesa including Peugeot, Nissan, Hyundai, Fiat, Citroen and Mitsubishi.

Managing director Chris Elvidge said: “We think that the name Co-Op Motor Group reflects our standing more accurately and sits more comfortably with our future plans.” He believes the group's success is based on high standards of customer service.

“We are able to bring a direct and refreshing attitude to customer relations,” he said.
