The French new car market was down 9.4% year on year in November with 149,285 registrations recorded by the French manufacturers' association CCFA.

The CCFA said the result showed a hiccup in the return to stability indicated by market volumes in the previous two months, though the November figures were better than those of April, May and the summer months of this year.

For the year to date, total French registrations of 1,848,840 cars represent a 6.9% decline from the same period in 2002.
