Sytner has been recognised for its engagement during National Apprenticeship Week’s takeover campaign which aimed to spotlight the many apprenticeship opportunities available within the retail sector.

The #DMCApprenticeTakeover encouraged National Franchised Dealer Association (NFDA) members to showcase compelling success stories of their current and past apprentices across various social media platforms.

The most engaged members were rewarded with complimentary tickets to The British Motor Show 2024 with Sytner winning two VIP tickets and TrustFord, TruckEast, JCT600 each winning four family tickets.

"It is encouraging to see the enthusiastic participation of numerous franchised retailers in both the Drive My Career campaign and National Apprenticeship Week. This collective engagement underscores our members' unwavering commitment to involve young individuals in the automotive realm, showcasing the diverse array of prospects within the industry," said Sue Robinson, NFDA chief executive.

In addition to the #DMCApprenticeTakeover, NFDA partnered with the Automotive 30% Club in the #MyApprenticeshipStory campaign. This initiative aimed to promote gender diversity by sharing inspiring stories of female apprentices, further emphasising the industry's commitment to inclusivity and equality.

Sue Robinson commented: "Initiatives like Drive My Career and the Automotive 30% Club play a pivotal role in promoting the automotive sector as an inclusive and diverse workplace. We are committed to eradicating negative perceptions and encourage young females to consider motor retailing as their option for a successful career. As an industry, we need to collaborate to make the industry inclusive, diverse, and open to all and highlight the possibilities in career progression it can offer."

"In these challenging times marked by a shortage of skills in the automotive sector, it is encouraging to see franchised dealers championing their apprentices and actively supporting National Apprenticeship Week.

“Last week, NFDA attended the NADA Show in Las Vegas. One resounding theme echoed throughout the conference halls: Franchised Dealers worldwide are grappling with a common challenge—recruiting skilled technicians. For this reason, and after the success of National Apprenticeship Week, Drive My Career is launching a new campaign #DrivingGreatCareers during National Careers Week happening from 4-9 March. More details on how to get involved will be shared by the NFDA in the coming weeks."

"Looking ahead, Drive My Career will continue its mission to raise awareness of the opportunities within the automotive sector and continue supporting its members,” said Robinson. “Drive My Career and the NFDA would like to thank all its members that took part in this campaign, contributing to bettering our industry as a brilliant place to work for all.”
