 Big news from BMW’s small car brand is the all-new MINI hatch. The three-door is on sale in March with prices from £15,300 and there’s a whole new range of engines.

A pair of new 1.5-litre engines take care of petrol and diesel duties, with the Cooper D’s 116bhp 1.5 diesel providing 80.7mpg and 92g/km CO2 emissions with the six-speed manual gearbox. The petrol 1.5 offers 62.8mpg and 105g/km coupled to 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds for the Cooper. The Cooper S has a 192bhp 2.0-litre petrol to help it from 0-62mpgh in 6.8 seconds.

MINI will also offer the new hatch as a five-door for the first time in its history, while the Countryman is due a mild facelift later in 2014 that it will share with the Paceman.
