Dealers are being offered a free route to market for their used stocks of cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles by online stock locator Autopig.co.uk.

The site has been live for 15 months and is in use by 100 dealers.

John Doherty, managing director, said: “Our ambition is to become the UK's largest car database and as it's free to advertise stock, we have a good chance of achieving this aim. Dealers and the public have nothing to lose by putting cars on our site.”

Autopig plans to fund the site through finance and insurance transactions. The site has links to finance companies, including high street banks and the AA, and insurers like the AA, Admiral and Norwich Union Direct.

They pay a fee for each successful referral.

Autopig, based in Luton, Beds, has been online for the past 15 months building stock levels.

The www.autopig.co.uk website features Vehicle Alert, which e-mails customers with details of vehicles in which they have stated an interest when they become available. It also includes links to breakdown operators, auctions, accessory suppliers and car clubs.
