Smart is claiming to be the first car manufacturer to offer an integrated Apple iPod play-back and charging station into its limited edition Fortwo i–move.

The white cabrio has a matching 20 Gb iPod engraved with the Smart logo, as standard, and iPod Car Kit consisting of a mount with an iPod connection. Seventy models will go on sale in the UK next month, priced at £12,500.

Jeremy Simpson, head of Smart in the UK and Ireland, says: "As an iPod owner I am delighted to launch this special edition model. The brand fit between Apple and Smart is perfect. Both brands offer a high degree of innovation and individuality and combine technology with style and exciting design."

The smart Fortwo i-move is based on a Fortwo cabrio passion. Additional exclusive specification includes Brabus 16in alloy wheels, dashboard mounted clock and rev counter, interior accent parts finished in white, heated leather seats, leather interior including door trims and dashboard, and upgraded sound.

Smart plans to sell an iPod car integration kit as an accessory for the Fortwo and Roadster models later this year.

Sales of the smart Fortwo reached record levels in March with 1,116 registrations, as the Smart marque continues to be one of the fastest growing automotive brands in the UK.
