Supply delays on extras for Mitsubishi’s new L200 has seen customers leaving newly-purchased vehicles at dealers for up to five weeks while the situation is resolved, AM has learnt.

Frustrated dealers have seen some orders cancelled and are critical of Mitsubishi, after UK managing director Jim Tyrell pledged in January that there would be no delays on L200 accessories.

“I’ve had to wait five weeks for supplies to arrive. Some buyers needed a roofbox, and as they were happy to wait, we provided them with loan cars: luckily most buyers weren’t business users,” one dealer says.

He reports that the average extras sale on a new L200 is £3,500.

A Mitsubishi spokesman says the shortage has been caused by the L200’s sales success.
