Maccess, the automotive parts and accessories distributor, has launched a new wireless reverse parking sensor from Streetwize Accessories, offering the automotive aftermarket a new product opportunity.

Until now, sensors have been fitted to vehicles as original equipment, but now there is an opportunity for stockists to sell the product into the aftermarket, with a solution that requires no wiring to be fitted anywhere on the vehicle.

The parking sensor comprises a dash-mounted control unit and a number of sensors, which fit to the back of the vehicle.

The sensors, which begin working as soon as reverse gear is engaged, transmit an ultrasonic signal when the car is reversing, sensing objects behind. A signal is then sent to the control unit, detecting whether the object is in the vehicles path and at what distance away.

The control unit illustrates the distances involved with a series of ‘beeps’ and LED display. It can detect objects or people up to 1.5metres behind the vehicle.

Suggestive retail price for the wireless parking sensor is £69.99. The Maccess offering is centred on its availability, service and brands. Its 15 branches hold more than 25,000 product lines.
