Mercedes-Benz South West’s corporate sales department has clinched an order to supply 45 vehicles to Thrifty Car & Van Rental for an undisclosed sum.

The cars – 30 CLS-Class Coupes and 15 luxury GL-Class off-roaders – will be used by customers of the Thrifty Prestige service in major cities and at airports. They are the first Mercedes-Benz models to be introduced onto Thrifty’s 15,000-strong car fleet for several years.

Roger Hancock, managing director of Thrifty, said: “We have a number of alternative prestige vehicle suppliers but decided to give Mercedes-Benz a go in recognition of the faultless service provided by Mercedes-Benz South West and the real desire that they showed to make the deal happen.”

Thrifty’s headquarters are situated at Marsh Barton, very close to the Mercedes-Benz of Exeter showroom.

Mark Archibald, Mercedes-Benz South West’s corporate sales manager said the close proximity of the businesses was another key factor in clinching the order.

He said: “From a logistical point of view, the partnership is perfect as our Exeter showroom is just around the corner from Thrifty’s HQ.

“We were therefore well placed to respond to Thrifty’s requirements – supplying the first vehicle the morning after the paperwork was completed.”
