Standox has launched its Standoflash UV-cured paint system in the UK, shortening labour times by as much as 70% and allowing small body repairs to be completed in less than an hour.

The Standoflash range consists of a stopper, filler and clearcoat. All products are mixed and applied as normal and cured using the Standoflash UV lamp, which allows drying times as low as 30 seconds for the primer filler and 45 seconds for the one-pack stopper. Sanding or polishing can be carried out as soon as the area has cooled down.

As well as reducing the timescale of small jobs, the system also saves money lost on wastage. Because all products are reliant on the UV lamp to dry, they have a considerably longer shelf life than conventional alternatives. The Standoflash range is VOC-compliant, with the UV filler consisting of 99.3% solids compared to around 60% for most alternatives.

Standox is presenting the system to interested body-shops at the Refinish Academy in Stevenage. The company claims it could create new business by creating a separate, fast-track offering for bodyshops, with menu-priced spot repairs.

Product manager Dr Martin Wulf said: "This makes for better results, not only in Euros and cents, but also in terms of customer satisfaction."
