General Motors UK has taken back responsibility for sales, marketing, distribution and aftersales for its Cadillac, Corvette and Hummer brands from Pendragon and Kroymans.

The US-brands will be brought into a premium portfolio and headed by Jonathan Nash, who will also continue as managing director of Saab GB.

It follows slower than expected progress with the relaunch of Cadillac and Corvette in the UK by exclusive retailer, Pendragon. Sales have been a tenth of the 4,000 targeted by 2009, and expansion of the Cadillac network has ground to a halt.

GMUK said it will continue to work with Kroymans and Pendragon. Pendragon will continue as retailer, and Kroymans will provide back office services for GM in the UK. The Cadillac network, currently 10 sites, will be cut back to five dealerships in key cities.

A number of HUMMER retailers will be announced nearer to support of start of sales in September.
