The UK’s recent floods have created havoc at hundreds of MoT premises.

MoT stations in Yorkshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and other counties have experienced flooding of up to several feet.

Numerous insurance claims for replacement equipment are being processed and these costs are only part of the much larger problems faced by the industry in the affected areas.

Many weeks of MoT revenue have also been lost, with staff unable to work and more disruption to follow as new equipment is installed.

Ray Calcutt, managing director of Boston Garage Equipment, said: “The floods seem to have ruined hundreds of MoT brake testers and we have already despatched a large number to Hull and Sheffield.

“We sent eight units to Hull on one day alone and the demand continues daily as premises get back into operation. We have many insurance replacements in hand and over the past weeks our warehouses have worked seven days. Fortunately we hold large stocks of class four and seven models, so we will cope with the exceptional demand”.
