Saab is introducing a new maintenance plan which will allow customers to pay for servicing in monthly instalments.

The plan, which costs £49.99, covers routine servicing, as well as wear and tear components like brakes, tyres and exhaust systems over the first three years or 60,000 miles of ownership.

A spokesman for Saab said: “The offer is not obligatory for the network, but we are expecting all Saab dealers to offer the plan.

“It always takes a little time for dealers to get behind new products, but once a good proportion have, we would expect a figure of 10% of all servicing from such schemes to be realistic.”

All parts and labour costs for routine servicing and additional essential repairs to any wear and tear items are covered, including disc and drum brakes, clutches, steering joints, shock absorbers, exhausts and wiper blades.

The spokesman said: “The cost factor is based not just on servicing but also most normal maintenance jobs an owner would encounter during this period.

“Within the duration of the plan it is anticipated that very little would arise that is not covered by either the plan, vehicle warranty or customer’s insurance.”

Sales teams will be expected to incorporate the new service plans as part of the sales process to make them aware of the offer.

The new service plan is designed to complement Saab’s standard three-year manufacturer’s warranty and does not cover accidental or malicious damage, which would normally
be covered through the owner’s insurance policy.
