Gilder Group has built in a new hydraulic handover bay at its new Volkswagen and Audi dealership in Sheffield.

As a result customers can sit in a chair and watch their new car rise from the ground while music is playing over speakers. The new bay is part of a £15 million development on Bochum Parkway.

Garry Scotting, Gilder chief executive, said: “It adds a bit of glitz and a bit of occasion to it.

“We were thinking about adding dry ice, even going as far as finding a version of it that wouldn’t leave a residue on the cars, but we thought it might have been going a bit too far.”
