The new president of the Garage Equipment Association (GEA) has revealed the organisation’s plans to start training and assessing vehicle lift engineers.

Gary Shepherd, director of Rotary Lift UK, said: "The scheme will ensure high standards of safe, efficient and effective lift installation and maintenance across the UK. Engineers will be trained and then assessed at the GEA offices in Daventry. Only those achieving above 80% during the final assessment will be GEA accredited."

The proposed system of accredited lift engineers will maintain standards by re-assessment on a regular basis. In the future, garages can ensure peace of mind by asking for a GEA accredited engineer to service workshop equipment.
