Kwik-Fit is running a summer campaign to entice motorists to take its air-con service.

The national chain is promising to waive its £44.95 air-con recharge service fee if it is unable to reduce the temperature at the air vent by at least 10%.

It seems unlikely to have to waive many fees, as its own results show that the service can lead to a 50% reduction in
in-car temperature in most cases.

David White, Kwik-Fit’s customer services director, wants the campaign to raise awareness that air-conditioning units can lose up to 30% of their gas every two years, and, in order to reach a comfortable temperature in the summer, they should be regularly recharged.

The company is also promoting the fuel-saving benefits of an efficient, regularly serviced air-conditioning system.

White added: “Our drive-in service means that there’s no need for any motorist to fry inside their car this year.”
