The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has revealed figures on how many new cars were registered by manufacturer in June.

Orders for the scrappage scheme are confirmed to be well beyond 60,000 now, but so far 29,796 of that number have been registered.

The scrappage scheme accounted for 9.7% of June’s new car registrations with a total of 17,014 units. June’s new car registrations saw the smallest drop in 12 months, with a fall of 15.7% in total.

In the commercial vehicle sector, 323 vans were registered under the scrappage scheme, accounting for 1.9% of the total scrappage registrations and 1.9% of overall van registrations in June.
