The Great Wall Steed will be priced from £13,998 plus VAT when it goes on sale this month.

The Chinese brand’s first model is a double cab pick-up which will go up against models like the Mitsubishi L200, Nissan Navaro, Toyota Hi-Lux and the Ford Range and it under cuts them all on price.

The Steed comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine, six-speed gearbox and selectable-on-the-move two/four-wheel drive.

There are 40 UK dealers ready to sell the Steed from launch and Great Wall believes its network will deliver a new level of service which will “break new ground in the pick-up market”.

Great Wall hasn’t revealed details about warranty but has said the Steed will include “a comprehensive, high-value ownership proposition”. More details will be revealed to AM at a press conference next month.
