Jaguar will launch its fastest ever production vehicle with a new F-Type Project 7 model which will be the first car from its new Special Operations division.

The F-Type Project 7 will be limited to 250 units and is expected to cost around £130,000 with customer deliveries starting in summer 2015.

The new model is powered by a 573bhp 5.0-litre V8 and will hit 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 186mph. The F-Type Project 7 features a 79bhp upgrade over the F-Type V8 S roadster.

The new model is road legal and comes with a detachable roof and 196-litres of storage space for those looking for a bit of practicality with their V8 sports car.

John Edwards, Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations managing director, said: “Special Operations exists to develop a suite of products and services that enable our most discerning and enthusiastic customers to indulge their passion for our cars.

“F-Type Project 7 is the most powerful production Jaguar ever built, and pays homage to Jaguar's seven outright Le Mans victories with distinctive design cues inspired by the Jaguar D-type which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.”

Equipment includes a bespoke bodykit, including a fin behind the driver’s seat, which channels air to a rear wing. Jaguar has also includes carbonfibre elements on the body to aid aerodynamics, including a new front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser.

Special Operations have reworked the F-Type’s suspension and included ceramic brakes.

The F-Type Project 7 will be on display at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
