Inchcape has appointed Stuart Rowley, a former chair and president of Ford Europe, as well as chief transformation & quality officer for the Blue Oval brand as its new non-executive director.

Rowley has joined the business with immediate effect and becomes a member of Inchcape’s audit and nomination committees upon appointment.

He recently retired from Ford Motor Company after more than 30 years' service.

Inchcape said Rowley brings a “deep understanding of the global automotive industry having begun his career as a finance leader before transitioning to general management, operations and strategy roles”.

Nigel Stein, Inchcape chairman, said: "Stuart's extensive global automotive experience will bring an informed perspective on the industry and will strengthen the skill set of the existing board.

“We are looking forward to working with him."
