Renault has expanded the engine choice in the Laguna range with the introduction of a 140bhp 2.0 16v petrol engine and a 100bhp version of the 1.9dCi common rail diesel unit. The range will be completed next year with a 150bhp 2.2dCi engine.

The 2.0 16v petrol wil be available in the top three trim levels – Dynamique, Privilege and Initiale – and in hatch back and sport tourer body styles. Prices start at £16,345 OTR for the Dynamique hatch and rise to £20,445 for the Initiale sport tourer.

The engine gives a combined cycle consumption figure of 36.7mpg.

The new diesel is now the entry level model and will only be available as a hatchback in Authtique trim. The 1.9dCi 100 engine returns 52.3mpg in the combined cycle. It costs £15,220 OTR.
