Vauxhall will introduce eight new or updated models by the end of 2020, as part of the car manufacturer's efforts to drive profitability with its new PACE! stategy.

The Adam and Viva hatchbacks will not be replaced as part of the strategy, however, and will only remain on sale until the end of next year, the Luton-based brand revealed in a statement.

It said: "The future portfolio will ensure a sustainable, successful future for both the company and its dealer network."

An all-new Corsa will be among the first new models to launch in 2019, alongside a replacement Vivaro van, Vauxhall revealed.

Order books for both the all-electric Corsa and the Grandland X PHEV will also be open by the summer of 2019.

The PSA Group brand, which acquired Vauxhall in April 2017, confirmed that additional versions of the Combo will be on sale next year too.

A successor to the Mokka X will debut in 2020 and will play a pivotal role for the company’s strategy to expand the proportion of its SUV sales from 25% to 40% by 2021.

By the end of 2020, Vauxhall will have a total of four electrified models on offer and by 2024 there will be an electrified version of every Vauxhall model.

With the new portfolio, Vauxhall will continue to cover around 80% of the mainstream market volume in 2020, with significantly higher efficiency and customer-orientation while simultaneously reducing complexity.
