You'd think owning a million pound, 1001bhp hypercar would be enough to set yourself aside and make your presence felt. It's not like you'd expect to find a line, or even one for that matter, parked up outside your local branch of Tesco.

But it seems exclusivity has a price, and it's a high one, as the already low-volume Veyron range has been expanded with the new Pur Sang (Thoroughbred) special edition.

Priced at €1.4m before tax and delivery, a €400,000 price hike over the common or garden standard model, it's certainly got the price tag to be an even more unusual sight on the roads. But, just in case that's not enough, Bugatti is only making five. And before you rush down to your local dealer to buy one, the bad news is they all sold out within 24 hours.

It may be easy to mock for its outlandish lack of restraint, but the Pur Sang is a gorgeous piece of machinery. Presented au naturelle, with its trademark two-tone colour scheme coming from unpainted carbon fibre and polished aluminium, it looks futuristic and almost unreal.

Take a look inside and it's just as jaw-dropping to behind. The Veyron's already striking interior is embellished with accents of silver, contrasting against the sleek black of the dash and seats. It's all very subtle, and very classy.

So what if it's over the top, if you've got the money, why not?

In for a million, in for a mil and a half, I say.
