November 2014

An all-new Passat will join the Volkswagen ranks late in 2014 and will be based on the company’s new MQB platform that underpins the latest Golf. For the Passat, the platform will offer a longer wheelbase and an estate version will be added in early 2015. Four-wheel drive will be an option for the next Passat, though it’s undecided if this will be offered in the UK. However, a 10-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox is on the way, along with a plug-in hybrid version of the Passat. Familiar 1.6- and 2.0-litre turbodiesel engines from the VW Group will also feature and the Passat will have a sub-100g/km model in its range early on. Also expect to see a new CC model some time after the Passat’s launch.
